Step by step instruction

How to season the wok? There is no sole correct way.
Turn the stove's exhaust fan on high and/or open a window.
  • Place the wok on the stove over high heat
  • Rotate the wok to heat the surface evenly
  • Turn off the heat and let the wok cool down for 1 to 2 minutes
  • Pour oil into the wok and heat the pan again. Reduce the heat when the oil starts smoking
  • Using a paper towel, swirl the oil around the wok for 1 to 2 minutes
  • Turn the heat off and let the wok cool down for 1 to 2 minutes
  • Wipe the excess oil out with a paper towel
  • Wash both sides of the wok with hot soapy water, using a sponge
  • Chop some garlic, chives (spring onion) and/or ginger
  • Turn the stove's exhaust fan on high and/or open a window. Place the wok on the stove over high heat
  • Heat the wok to a high temperature, then add 2 or 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • Add the chopped ingredients and stir-fry for about 5 minutes over low to medium heat (oil should be smoking slightly)
  • Using a spatula, spread the ingredients up the sides of the wok to the top of the pan. If the mixture becomes dry, add more oil
  • After 5 to 10 minutes, remove the pan from the heat, let it cool, and discard the ingredients
  • Wash the wok in warm water without detergent and wipe it dry with a paper towel
  • Your wok is now ready for use!
