How to season the WOK (advanced method)

 

In this video, we offer a simple and easy way with oil and vegetables. Especially good for a new wok. The vegetables will help to eliminate the metallic taste of new wok.

Step by step instruction

How to season the wok? There is no sole correct way.
  • Chop some garlic, chives (spring onion), and/or ginger
  • Turn the stove's exhaust fan on high and/or open a window. Place the wok on the stove over high heat
  • Heat the wok to a high temperature and add 2 or 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • Add the chopped ingredients and stir-fry for about 5 to 10 minutes on low to medium heat (oil should be smoking slightly)
  • Using a spatula, spread the ingredients up the sides of the wok to the top of the pan. If the mixture becomes dry, add more oil
  • After 5 to10 minutes, remove the pan from the heat, let it cool, and discard the ingredients
  • Wash the wok in warm water without detergent and wipe it dry with a paper towel
  • Your wok is now ready for use!
