In this video, we offer a simple and easy way with oil and vegetables. Especially good for a new wok. The vegetables will help to eliminate the metallic taste of new wok.
Step by step instruction
How to season the wok? There is no sole correct way.
- Chop some garlic, chives (spring onion), and/or ginger
- Turn the stove's exhaust fan on high and/or open a window. Place the wok on the stove over high heat
- Heat the wok to a high temperature and add 2 or 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- Add the chopped ingredients and stir-fry for about 5 to 10 minutes on low to medium heat (oil should be smoking slightly)
- Using a spatula, spread the ingredients up the sides of the wok to the top of the pan. If the mixture becomes dry, add more oil
- After 5 to10 minutes, remove the pan from the heat, let it cool, and discard the ingredients
- Wash the wok in warm water without detergent and wipe it dry with a paper towel
- Your wok is now ready for use!
